Eczema

April 3, 2011 No Comments Eczema is basically a rash or an inflammation of the skin that is not contagious. It is typically very itchy. There may be tiny blisters.

Both my kids had eczema when they were young. Their father suffers from eczema with itchy skin that needs specific moisturizers, steroid creams,

A bath in oatmeal water helped my kids soothe the itch. You fill a muslin bag with oats and run warm water through it to fill the tub. Let baby soak in that oats water to soothe the itch.

My kids loved that.

What they loved even more were the milk and honey baths scented with mandarin essential oil.

I’d pour 2 cups of whole milk powder and half a cup of honey in the warm clean water in the baby bath. Then I’d add 5 drops of mandarin essential oil. My kids loved bathing in it. 12 years later, they still talk about how much they missed these scented baths.

The flip side?
They’d smell like cheese by the end of the day.

My children were not alone. Some babies do suffer from eczema.
