Makeup Tips Smokey Eyes
May 20, 2011 No CommentsApplying dark eye makeup can be tricky. It’s all too easy to look as if you’ve been punched in both eyes.
Of the tutorials on eye makeup looks I’ve found online, here’s one that shows how to create a dramatic eye makeup look I particularly like. Note the upturned liner extending past the outer edge of the eye, typical of the cat eye makeup look.
One thing about going all the way with dark eye makeup is that the look can be aging on older women.
An alternative is to use an eye shadow close your skin tone from lash to brows. Darken the crease with a medium or dark eyeshadow.
Then use a dark brown eye pencil to line both upper and lower lash line. Smudge it slightly with the sponge end of the liner.
Use a fine eye liner brush, dampen in a little water, dip into a dark eye shadow and go over the pencil liner again.
Finish off with 2 coats of mascara.

Bare Minerals Eye Pencil in chocolate
I particularly like the chocolate pencil eye liner from Bare Minerals. It glides on easily. To sharpen the eye liner, use the plastic sharpener at the other end of the pencil.
